today lionel and i went to check out the new mall at downtown east!
woohoo its totally family entertainment.
the kids playground and cinema and bowling and kkkkkkkbox!
and alot of food.
like superdog and newyorkx2 and some korean place.
quite hip and happening la.
just that there were alot of orange tshirt-ed people walking around,
(not just ehub!, but everywhereeeeeeee.)
and its so eye-catching it made me quite irritated.
yeah i know,
wear shirt also can irritate me,
i very hard-to-please one.
and that would be Kris the Supreme Ruler of The Universe to you.
maybe they were raising funds for a wonderful cause or something.
"The Quest '08" is emblazoned across the front.
y'know, The Quest To Raise Funds maybe.
yay jess and kael,
we have a new place to hang around and about!
and if the urge ever arises we can just skip across the road and crash jess' place.
THE JOY! :D
after that we came home where i thrashed him at crashbash,
and confiscated his PSP so i can play Worms from now until tomorrow,
and guitar-ed somemore.
okay krisso, chillax.
222s, read on and be touched.
today pop and i went specially to sentosa to recce the place for you!
not that we dont know much about sentosa...
okay yes we dont know much about sentosa.
we went to find the entrance to costa sands.
costa sands like to hide away from public.
which is probably why its so secluded and stuff,
but wahlau.
we got so sian of walking that we jumped on two bikes to find it.
got very lost en route.
i shudder to think what might happen if we didnt go today.
WALKING AROUND SENTOSA LUGGING BAGS OF CLOTHES AND WHATNOT?
(this does not apply to vann. she'll just bring a bigger handbag.)
anyway we found the place at last,
so when we go it'll be muchamucha easier.
so THANK US QUICK! :D
hmmm,
planning to go do some other stuff besides lying in the sun,
like.. the luge? ($9 but there may be a 30% discount),
the songs of the sea thing.
which used to be the FREE musical fountain show but now costs $6.
and i want to go cafe del mar :D
its so pretty and woooots.
and ritesh wants to go st.james.
anyway we invaded other people's privacy to catch a glimpse of the kampung hut.
actually the guy at the check-in counter showed us some pictures.
not bad la k.
got aircon got bed good enough.
actually i think we can just ton at the beach or something.
there's electrical outlets too,
can bring chargers and laptops and PSPs ;x
and we took damn alot of pamphlets.
jialiang got possesed by an auntie spirit or something today.
and oh, we cant walk into sentosa anymore.
apparently the walkway was shut since sugust last year.
im so lag i could go backwards.
anyway just though i'd mention this because jialiang led me on a whole wildgoose chase,
circling vivocity and harbourfront center,
only to find out we could have just walked straight out of vivocity,
only to find that damned walkway closed.
we took the sentosa express,
a kinda LRT from vivocity,
which costs $3 (but part of it might be entrance fee).
the grey clouds were threatening rain,
but we still broke out in much sweat.
wasnt as fun as it would have been if it were sunny though.
only took two pictures,
and here they are. jialiang and the statue who copied his pose.
jialiang terrorising the peacock.
i guess that's it.
SO ARE YOU EXCITED?!?!? :D
(yes claud, you too. think of it as a long day at the beach with alternating light/dark cycles and not as a chalet k? hahaha ;x)
STRIKE THREE AND YOU'RE OUUUUTTTT!
okay, so we all cant be heroes because someone has to sit on the kerb and clap as the heroes go by.
meaning there always has to be somebody at the bottom rungs of the ladder,
and in this case it would include me.
yeah, bell curve and everything y'know.
so apparently NTU has this appeal form thing.
use 50 words or less to describe why they should accept you.
so pig and i were discussing the various answers we could use...
#1
"because i know i didnt study hard enough so i want to turn over a new leaf, starting from university!"
#2
"because i will bring you glory!!!"
#3
"because i really want to do something fulfilling in my life and you can help me accomplish my dreams."
#4
"because i dont know what else to do."
#5
"because i believe i can contribute to society, and one day singapore will take over the world!!"
#6
"so that you can be credited as the alma mater of The Grand Supreme Ruler Of The Universe."
#7
"so you can get value-added."
#8
"because the intelligent need someone not-so-intelligent to bully."
#9
"because i got rejected."
#10
"because the other universities rejected me too."
please vote and maybe i'll use one.
p.s. we didnt come up with so many, alot of it is just my immature airtalking.
p.p.s. my sister came up with #7 and #8.
p.p.p.s. i personally like #9, which jess came up with.
anyway i read the newspapers which said 61% of employers google prospective employees,
or check them out on facebook and stuff.
apparently what you post up does not show your life,
it shows your judgement.
if the NTU people processing the appeal thingies find this,
its all in the name of fun, laughter, peace and joy :)
(and because it all cant fit under 50 words)
makes me wonder if one day we will truly self-censor all the things we dont want to see or hear.
like the way some people cannot accept sadness.
like, everyone's profile on the internet will become superficial and fake and you cannot distinguish what's real and what's not.
but maybe it was always like that.
people post things up to create the image they want other people to have of them.
ho hum.
WHAT HAPPENED TO SUNSHINE?
watch the first one and be amazed,
watch the second one to check out what makes me laugh.
the links are here and here.
meridian dance peeps should find this familar,
as well as those who attended the concert.
hohum.
ponder over these questions for a minute:
WHAT IS HAPPINESS?
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
**********
okay sorry for overload of philosophy class,
its just that at times like these
i cant help but think about the more serious issues.
so what makes you happy?
love and friends and fame and fortune?
and being able to eat like a hippo and not look (and weigh) like one?
back in secondary four we had a motivational talk.
its one i dont think any of us would forget in a long time,
right jess/kael?
anyway during that talk ramesh taught us that choice is happiness.
if you look beyond those words,
it makes alot of sense.
havng money means you have the choice of what to do with it.
having good grades means having a choice on where to go.
so you should always work towards that which gives you the ability to choose.
i suppose thats where the saying,
"a beggar cant be a chooser"
comes from.
what triggered all these thoughts was that SMU advertisement again.
its different when its someone you actually know.
then i think,
"oh shucks, look at how happy they are and how stable and bright the future is for them."
and then for awhile i regret not working hard enough.
but dont worry i come to my senses very quickly,
and realize that im just plain not-so-smart.
all the comebacks are just too flouncy.
what, "i dont want to work hard for that superficial good grade and just struggle later on with more in-depth stuff."
im having this huge mental debate with myself over that.
on one hand, yeah, it may be true.
ive been on the verge of eating my chemistry notes with little improvement in my grades.
on the other hand,
i chose the subject. i should put in the effort to at least help me get what i want.
but its too late now.
for me at least.
i really dont want my sister to follow my footsteps.
of course, i dont think she will.
good thing she has me hey.
i can show her what not to do.
LEE QI CARIN,
PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL THE REMAINING TIME AND CRAM AND MUG LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!
at times it would seem like it wouldnt make anymore difference.
that no matter how much more you read the notes you cant absorb anything else.
but practise. i swear i didnt practise enough.
and look where it's got me:
tottering on a stepping stone in the middle of the white rapids,
while some are already safely on the other side because they built a better raft.
sometimes i wonder why people want to finish studying so fast.
because it takes up too much money?
and because when you enter the working world there's more progress (and money) to be made?
i guess its both.
my dad and mum agree that its just a matter of time to get to the same position.
sort of like jc kids and poly kids getting into university.
i suppose my sister will graduate from university earlier than i.
as if being taller than me werent already enough -_-
oh well.
class dismissed.
hmm, i cant think of a suitable way to start,
so lets jump right in :D
woke up to a huge rainstorm this morning,
dampened the hopes of going swimming.
poked my sister but she sleeptalked/waved me away,
waited for my mum to come home to decide on the course of action to take.
we went to town.
before ten am.
again.
the shopping center's doors were locked,
alot of people were kind of stranded in the carpark.
y'know, after parking car go to thee escalator/lifts,
but the door locked.
and quite a few people were about.
dont forget, its the first weekend of GREAT SINGAPORE SALE!
anyway we hung around until about noon when the major crowd started streaming in,
then we left :)
followed my mum to her dance class.
its at kallang bahru,
which brings back alot of memories,
especially of chicken rice and the tonktonk machine.
and um,
i cant really think of a suitable connector to start on what happened yesterday,
so we'll jump right in again then :D
had dental appointment at NUH,
which meant taking the shuttle bus from buona vista,
only the shuttle bus had been relocated to dover,
and we didnt know.
hmmm.
the dentists at NUH have their own rooms (duh) along a corridor.
so the windows open out onto a garden.
while we were in dr.ong's office,
we noticed this patient rummaging the dustbin outside (in the garden).
dr.ong said the mental wards were right opposite,
so yeah.
and he also said there was this pprticular patient who would walk past all the dentists' office,
and knock on the glass until they waved "hello" at him,
upon which he would then continue to the next dentist's room.
i wonder if people with mental illness think they're still normal by social standards.
as in, normal people think mental people are "abnormal",
but maybe its the other way?
this brings to mind the book i read about the girl with cerebral palsy.
anyway this is one super cool vending machine at NUH which ive been walking past for the past six years, and finally tried today.
what a disappointment.
my sister and i were then at a loss of what to do next.
(we had the dental appointment at 11.30 and were finished by 11.35. mind you, we did arrive abit early, but still. it doesnt do two hours of travelling justice!)
decided to take the mrt and get off when we felt like it.
i think dover mrt station is quite cool.
both tracks are in the middle.
wait the train driver open the doors on the wrong side how?
we waved to a train which was pulling in,
and the train driver smiled.
i think we made his day.
lolololololol.
bytheway, there's a new MRT voice again.
its less irritating than the second one,
but still not as nice as the original :(
alighted at bugis then,
macs-ed for lunch,
and my sister was making a lot of intellectual statements,
things like,
"THE FRIES TASTE LIKE POTATO! they've always tasted like fries before but today they taste like potato!"
and, "i think my friends read my blog."
i cant exactly describe why the second statement is so funny to me.
and then she went to pierce her ears.
with my money.
very nice right got sister with the cash.
nevermind she will pay me back one :)
after that i kind of left her to go on her merry way,
while i went about mine looking for worms.
(try the ground kris, that's where worms live).
its such an old old game :(
if anything, i did find this.
ratatoing.
wtf.
visited lionel's new home on friday.
the lift buttons are so weird.
its like so weird can?!
there! his pink bedsheets!
so man sia.
look at all those toys.
benji was a pampered doggy.
i think condominiums are very nice.
the environment is so resort-like.
look, swing!
and ive always wanted to stand somewhere near an MRT track and watch the MRT go by.
weird huh,
especially since i can always do that on the station platform.
on thursday lionel came over to teach me guitar.
its more difficult than i imagined :(
and i think its fascinating how the same note can be played in so many uh, ways.
suddenly i have newfound respect for guitarists.
so that's that then.
oh and this was a random game of otello/reversi my sister and i played.
the bottom left corner is supposed to be all black pieces too but we ran out of pieces so we just used those.
yes, i took white and i totally got pwned.
its the saddest game ive ever played in my life!
bytheway,
i used to have the same shoes that the heisehuimeimei wore before!
the brown nike one.
MUAHAHAHHAHAHA!
IMA BLOGGING FROM LIONEL'S NEW HOUSE!
ITS PRETTY AND HIS BEDSHEET IS PINK!
:D
its strike two with NTU.
can you say, "HUMAN OVEN"?!
is it me or is it atypically warm?
not that im complaining (much) but its an irritable feeling.
an irritable, sticky feeling.
but there are more things to think about besides complaining about the weather,
what with Asia's Twin Disasters and all..
anyway today i hit town at an early of 10am.
let it be known that i have never set foot in town at the blasted hour of ten in the morning.
and yet, WHERE DO ALL THE PEOPLE COME FROM?
(and why are there school peeps out and about at 12nn? is it exam period?)
they say singapore is a small country,
yet any five minutes during peak hour on the train can tell you its populous enough.
small but high-density.
that's saying something.
anyway went down to recruit express.
nono, i mean, went up to recruit express.
sometimes im fascinated how the lifts can go up/down so fast.
and i think i might get motion sick in lifts.
spent about ten minutes in there,
sometimes i wished they made us wait longer so its like more worth the time travelled.
you know that advertisement which said 1/3 of our lives are spent waiting?
i think its so much more than 1/3 (or half, or whatever fraction the advert used.)
on the more superficial scale,
you wait for the bus/mrt.
then you get on the bus/mrt then you wait for it to bring you to your destination.
all your life you're waiting.
waiting to get into your teens, waiting to turn 16, 18, 21.
after that you try to stop time so that you stay young, lol.
hmv-ed a long while waiting for lionel.
he has extra leave until sunday, hooray!
they probably want to tekkan them to death when they report back :)
discovered that alvin and the chipmunks are like the animal versions of powerpuff girls.
red, green, blue.
are there no other colour combinations?
picked up the cover of koizora,
was reading the back when suddenly i caught sight of the scene on tv.
(yeah, there are tvs all around. big tvs, small tvs)
its was a japanese school uniform type of ribbon on the ground,
in what looked like a place with shelves and books,
and i went, OH DAMN, I *JUST* MISSED THE SEX-IN-THE-LIBRARY SCENE.
i so had to tell jess/kael.
so i drifted around the shop,
not very aware of what sections i was at because i was busy staring at the screen.
and so were alot of other people.
until they finally switched it to another program
on purpose too, i think.
so far everyone gives koizora a thumbs-up rating,
but i dont think i'll watch it for the time being.
dont want to get all emo you know?
went clubbing with lionel!
coffee-clubbing, i mean.
i suddenly like the outdoor-restaurant concept.
like the nydc nearby too.
garlic prawn pasta!
throughout the day i kept burping into lionel's face.
TEEHEEHEEE.
i also like doing it when i eat durian to irritate my sister too.
:D
went to the national library,
picked up three foxtrot anthologies!
*wipes drool
THREE! THREE! THREE!
popped by swee lee's for lionel to check out (the pricetags of) the electric guitars,
while i spent some time getting acquainted with his new friend - The PSP.
i love Worms!
kaka turned a strange yellow colour.
lol.
i like their names. like bananafeller. and harlequin.
so cute right.
chilled at home watching hoodwinked (again! the woodchopper guy! :D),
and playing Worms.
lionel thrashed me.
even though i kept saying "if you love me, you'd let me win"
i thought that always worked :(
i like tetris and worms.
lionel said i might as well get a gameboy.
and its nearing the end of may!
are the university stuff online or something?
even if they are, i scared to check.
like kael said, i dont quite want to face the worst-case scenario ;(
and that SMU.
rubbing it into all the 14,000+ rejected applicants' faces.
everyday the newspaper carry advertisements of
"CHOOSE SMU/ I GOT INTO THE UNIVERSITY OF MY CHOICE!"
zzz.
okay nothing else.
the heat is baking my brain.
visited temasek club yesterday to swim,
its been about a year since we last went,
and in the near future we'll be seeing alot more of it i think.
this morning went to the driving range with my mum.
its at marina bay, and its so tranquil.
early morning healthy sunshine.
after hitting alot of balls,
went to sit at the cafe and watch the different flights tee off.
i still think someday i will get the proficiency certificate and be able to drive the buggy.
my mum is all for it too,
then she wont need to look too far for a golf khaki.
the thing about my mum is when she does things,
she does them properly.
and she applies those principles to her work.
these are things you think you read only in textbooks but its true i guess.
hearing her talk about such things,
the things she's learnt in the past two/three years
i feel i should be more receptive but i get more surly.
doesnt help that my head was about to hit the table from lack of a good night's sleep.
must've been the coffee my brother bought the night before.
my mum suddenly felt like eating steak so we went to jack's place.
the table next to us was ...
it made me think of how food should be respected,
especially in restaurant atmosphere.
all my lights are fixed.
wahlau,
celebs endorse so many things and get so many freebies :(
i hope the heat keeps up way into june :)
i tell you,
i am just about going crazy trying to get my hands on this one song.
(whatever happened to you, my darling baidu? ;x)
i dont mind buying the cd,
but im also going crazy trying to get my hands on the cd.
there's very little heisehuimeimei cds available huh.
keep seeing the lollipop's.
this and navigating through websites in chinese.
I EAT POTATO ONE OKAY,
the chinese character makes my eyes squiggle.
if anything the chinese word for download is very funny.
like direct translation.
you know,
the tv controller in my daddy's apartment has a button called "cai dan".
yes, literally for "menu".
(the restaurant kind)
hahahahaha.
oh and lionel is out buying his psp.
my sister and i must have had a deprived childhood.
:D
i think chocolate-flavoured things are weird.
you know what's sweet?
sweet is my sister in her role of welfare,
making a card for her team to sign,
to give to the rugby boys before their finals game.
you know what's sweeter?
sweeter is when
just before the soccer girls' finals game,
the rugby boys gave each girl a rose.
ARE YOU MELTING NOW?
ARE YOU MELTING?!?!
so cute right,
the things young people get up to.
*looks into the distance and strokes beard
oh, but both teams lost, through penalty.
which is sad,
because the game itself is not considered hmm?
my sister and i agreed that its a batch-by-batch thing.
each batch is different.
but there are some schools who can sustain their titles...
maybe they have alot of retainees, hur.
no la. guess there are alot of factors.
oh and finally all the lights in the bedroom/bathroom are fixed.
imagine doing all your go-to-bed stuff in the dark.
zzzz.
HAHA.
HOODWINKED! IS HILARIOUS!
its abit like vantage point.
all the stories are intertwined with repeated scenes.
TOO FUNNY!
im having a major case of recurring hiccups today.
i dont like it when im yawning and a hiccup comes and steal the yawn away.
or when im laughing and then a hiccup comes and changes it into a HAHAURG!
went for btt today, at last.
i registered in march, hello.
i cant believe i travelled/stoned two hours and finished in ten minutes.
exams are exams.
the nervousness is always there no matter how well you prepare.
so many people poking/jabbing the screen.
so funny.
its payday but its more like spend-day with all the topping ups.
detoured to bedok.
a pasar malam is no place to be on a hungry stomach.
saw many a cute shirt to rival those at bugis street.
(actually they're all the same)
am going to drag my honeybunnystrawberrypuff there.
bought my the champions!
although i think watching online is easier.
then i can fastforward the family drama part.
also bought alice in wonderland.
im rather fascinated by it.
by the serious nonsense.
(no, really. nonsense)
and it kinds of scares me abit because its so eccentric, but nevermind.
also bought hoodwinked.
wanted to watch it when it first came out.
i like discovering different versions of the fairytales.
like disney's flouncy versions,
the brothers grimm well, grim version,
roald dahl's (a tad) gory version.
and aside from disney, all of them are quite sad one huh.
like, the little mermaid dies, tinkerbell too :((((
but at least hoodwinked is funny.
i remember watching some show,
the little red riding hood told in the wolf's perspective.
cute.
and ive finally received a letter!
of rejection from SMU.
lolololol.
you know what was the worst part of the letter?
".. we have 16,000 applications in 2008 for 1,628 places..."
as if the contrast in numbers werent bad enough,
think about how much they got for the application fees!
that's 16,000 x $15
suck money lor.
zzzzzzzz.
at least the mail came with a pizza hut pamphlet.
its my maid's birthday today,
wanted to order pizza to celebrate.
but had to leave the house,
so tomorrow it is!
i have a craving for chocolate milk!
i swear i cried at the picture on today's newspaper.
a school collapsed due to that earthquake, burying so many students.
its always sad when a young person dies.
because its his potential that cannot be realized.
how far would he have gone?
thtas why compensations are so difficult.
how much would he have earned?
and of course,
nothing can compensate for the loss of life..
oh jumping jellybeans :(
that picture just struck home.
the student in a tracksuit.
the man holding his hand.
sad sad sad :((
and that earthquake is in chengdu..
my sister will be going there in two weeks.
;(
wanted to blog majorly today,
so im going to.
The Long Post awaits.
- gentle reminder:
After 40 minutes in front of the computer, remember to rest your eyes and look at far-away objects. Let's protect our eyes and prevent myopia! :D -
it rained today, finally.
and because of the rain, i woke up at 1pm thinking it was still 8am.
and i havent finished watching the champions.
there's a youtube user with the username of kristellie.
D;
lets backtrack.
tuesday, 13may2008
my darling strawberry puff brought me (in her own words) bugis street prowling.
it was fun buying everything at $10.
D;look what she gave me!
sweetsweet lollipop!
this is the pinkest thing i have ever received.
haha.
lUrbBx eUu kAeLaLa~
i also bought a whiteboard with a monthly schedule on it!
i really admire people who keep organizers and stuff.
like kael and my sister.
i try, but its the case of try-too-hard-cannot-make-it kind.
anyway,
it was tuesday.
its very significant to us because we keep impromptu-ly going out on tuesdays.
this is like the fourth time.
teeheeheee.
monday, 12may2008
awoke from the most glorius dream ever.
dreamt that i went to disneyland!
the excitement in the dream was like real one.
woooh.
at least i didnt dream about toilets of the squatting kind.
*looks pointedly at vanessatard
anyway, got it into my head that i want to work at tampines,
so i went jobhunting in the malls.
stole layhoon from work at timberland,
she was having such the slackiest day.
so we went around.
asking for jobs.. is very much like confessing to your crush.
when they express interest in you, its like yay!
and then rejection is rejection,
no matter the situation.
another impromptu decision to meet up with martin in the evening,
so i went home first.
and came out again.
to the same place.
:D
martin...
with friends like martin, you dont need enemies.
he keep saying i fat,
that i should break up with lionel 'cos lionel keep feeding me.
this coming from the same guy who asked me to
"hold on to lionel tightight
because his future now brightbright"
-____-
not that i mind.
(the fat-calling part)
i can be especially thick-skinned when martin's around.
so call me Roly-Poly.
or, Roly-Pol Lee.
HAHAHAHAH.
we went to ntuc.
animal biscuits and jambu.
heh :D
on my way home i bumped into yixiong.
HAS TIME REALLY FLOWN BY THAT FAST?
the last thing i remember about yixiong was when he was in sec 1,
still wearing shorts,
smallsmall one.
and now people in meridianj already!
still smallsmall one la, but still.
TOO SCARY.
sunday, 11may2008
HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY!
my mum was attending some convention on primary healthcare givers ;x
(hey, it came out in the papers okay, the importance of the healthcare structure, and how people are neglecting or think lowly of the primary healthcare givers and what they can do about it ;x )
my sister decided to cook dinner.
times like these, siblings can be very supportive.
i kept saying i would have to order pizza.
or when my brother takes the driver's seat, i say i want taxi.
but hey, all in good fun, no? :D my sister and i preparing dinnnnnerrrrr.
look miko, a space rock!
eat the space rock miko! for your information those were potatoes.
we were going for western food. soup of the day and garlic bread!
the only part of my contribution.
i feel very proud making garlic bread. it was meant to be steak, but it looks more chinese.
because the steak was sliced.
and because my sister got overly excited about the cauliflower-babycarrots thing.
but the rice is heart-shaped!
i shaped the rice!
:D for my mum :)
i bought a rose for my maid too, beth.
sometimes i feel very sad that she's a mum too,
but she left her own children to take care of other people's children..
her birthday is tomorrow, and i already bought her a gift! :D
so yeah, happy mothers day to all mothers,
not just your own!even before she opened the box she knew i got her the porcupine.
she loves these small cute things.
she likes to keep them in the box and occasionally take out to smile at them.
now every year mothers day and birthday must add to her collection on little swarovskis.
dont care, next year my sister's turn.my sister is a bad photog.
people havent even smile properly.
but this makes her look like a small girl.
had emailed my dad the night before,
telling him of all the things we were planning to give/do.
once again he said thankyou for taking care of mummy when he's not there.
FATHERS DAY COMING.
15 JUNE.
GIVE YOUR FATHER THE BILLS FOR MOTHERS DAY.
(which is why fathers day comes after mothers day, see)
probably will celebrate it a week earlier when he's in singapore :)
our schedules quite sad.
when he come, i go chalet.
when i come home, they going malaysia to golf.
and my sister will be in china, where he came from.
weirdweirdweird.
anyway,
it was mothers day but she gave us a present too. a new printer!
aiya, what makes us happy makes her happy right? :D
wah, this printer damn cool man.
can print on the cd/dvd one!
now i can conduct illegal vcd peddling.
:D
JUST JOKING OKAY,
DONT CALL POLICE.
saturday, 10may2008
i actually lost track of which month-sary this was.
oops-a-daisy.
;x
anyway it was quite a sombre morning/afternoon.
attended the wake for lionel's grandmother.
not a good week for lionel's mum huh.
first benji, then her mother :(
met up with a couple of his army buddies,
then sat around eating peanuts and stuff, y'know.
they were talking about after-hours army life.
its quite funny.
they're planning to put shaving cream on this guy's leg.
and i say leg, as in, singular.
if getting rid of his manly leg hair wasnt bad enough,
getting rid of it on only one leg certainly is.
they were also talking about the medicine/dentistry interviews.
which was also quite hilarious.
offhandedly i would always say "those rj, hci people",
general meaning they very smart and medicine all that expected one,
but actually theyre the same underneath those education stuff.
they also diss people.
i had that weird eerie feeling that there were alot more ervin-s out there in the world.
those kind, when people holler for them across a room,
they will go, "yes?" in the same vocal range of a whisper, and expect the person to hear them.
these people live among us.
in the evening we attended a mothers day dinner at changi bethany church.
this is the third time our aunt invited us.
the first year only my sister went with my mum.
the second year my sister and i went.
this third year my brother, sister and i went.
talk about progressive.
anyway its always the same,
dinner followed by a sermon.
this year's sermon was in chinese, so it was translated to hokkien.
last year it was vice versa.
both times it didnt make a difference because we didnt know what they were talking about.
and even if we did...
speaking for myself, i dont think im a church person.
dont get me wrong, i have nothing against it.
i admire people who have faith.
i think im too cynical.
too shallow.
i think i dont need people to tell me about things i know.
is that why they call it "preach"?
speaking for myself i dont like being preached.
hmm.
shant elaborate because i dont quite know how to express it.
yessirreee.
back to the future please.
i think im going to tidy my desk.
things to ponder about can wait.
except one: pamelyn chee.
she's on the cover of fhm and when i was tagging and displaying it i thought she not very pretty.
but her interview in today's mindyourbody section very funny.
she's so frank and honest and down-to-earth, and like-able.
i think i should adopt the
"they never do anything to you, you dont do anything to them" approach.
i.e., dont judge a book by its cover.
or dont judge, fullstop.
except for the woman on the cover of stuff.
now that's vomit-inducing.
do men really go for that?
oh joy!
i found the champions on youtube.
the swimming one, yes?
was on channel8 back in 2004.
i remember super-liking it because for once it wasnt the usual family drama
(not quite anyway. they just had to slip it in somewhere)
and for two, it was kind of like an idol drama?
a first for singapore.
and it was to showcase the younger actors/actresses.
with some taiwanese actors/actresses too.
but i couldnt catch every episode.
until now.
heh heh heh.
i think fiona xie is super pretty.
im gawking and swooning each time she appears.
on the verge of lesbian-ing.
and to each his/her own k,
so dont come and "sheprettymehaverageonlywhatithinkso-and-soprettier" me.
woohahaheeheeheehahahahohoho.
oh, i finally updated the links.
very much condensed, if you ask me.
and im super glued to the computer,
playing bugs bunny.
wont talk much sense.
P.S.
i finally heard from lionel yesterday :)
no peep from those universities still though.
oh my.
there's a tinkerbell movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
roald dahl said, "those who don't believe in magic will never find it"
someday i will visit one of the disneylands.
movieworld was great already, but still.
even if im ninety when the opportunity comes along,
i'll still go.
disney's magic is timeless.
you could say its for the young,
so im young at heart.
i mean look,
i just bought two computer games.
one is tinkerbell and the other is carmen sadiego.
what to say, what to say.
disneyland = a people trap operated by a mouse.
in other news,
this is what my sister told me when she was dragging me to thread our eyebrows:
"it really does make a difference! my friends say now i have a slutface."
i cant tell if she's vaguely seriously about taking it as a compliment.
i dont like the word slut.
its sleazy, too sleazy.
i prefer bitch.
dont know the difference?
a slut sleeps with everyone at the party.
a bitch sleeps with everyone at the party, except you.
off to play my new games.
(the box says ages 5 and up. AND UP.)
yesterday was quite an emotional-rollercoaster day for lionel i suppose.
wanna hear the good news or the bad news first?
too bad this isnt interactive,
so whatever you choose its the bad news first.
(because i want it that way)
benji passed away :(
he's the cutest, sweetest little doggie i know (yes, my miko is a grumpy old fart)
also very superly pampered by lionel's mummy.
loads and loads of toys and shoes and clothes.
died from cancer :(
so, one minute's silence for benjibenjibenji k?
hope there are no cats in his doggy heaven.
and the good news is,
lionel received a letter from NUS dentistry
:))))))))))))))
i like how he says the dexterity tests/interview are an open secret.
so yeah.
yay! :D
and despite how he screwed up his aerospace interview,
he got accepted into it.
double yay :)
and me,
no word from any of them.
:(
maybe they just accept me already.
hahahaha.
went to play pool at orchid country club,
and then met nawei at northpoint.
went for the band's concert,
to infinity and beyond part II.
its under the arts fusion thing.
and boy were they good!
no, i'm not just saying that.
i didnt want to go actually,
but then it was kind of worth the $10.
the new conductor comes across as a nervous young man.
but judging from the pieces he's quite.. capable.
and its the first-ever concert ive been to
that had information of the piece screened on the well, screen.
the projector screen was let down halfway,
and bits of trivia about the pieces were flashed across.
it made so much more sense knowing what you're listening to.
like, i didnt know there was so much more to jericho.
they tell you what to listen out for,
like a solo or something.
they explain what each movement is,
then you can really feel it.
and for the kingdom hearts piece,
there were two videos playing side-by-side.
one was of the band performing, the camera weaving in and out of seats.
the other was of the kingdom hearts game.
AND I SO WANT TO PLAY KINGDOM HEARTS NOW.
ALL THEIR FAULT.
i mean, its part-disney!
i have a weakness for disney.
i love their scenes and places and characters.
anyway the conductor himself appeared to introduce armenian dances.
he even talked about armenian music history.
thats like so music class,
the audience actually gained something other than just sitting there.
and of course there was that goldilocks and the three bears thing.
the conductor kind of narrated the story with the band providing sound effects.
but it was cute.
especially whenever he mentioned "goldilocks - the sweeeeeet younnnggg thing!"
then the band would strike up this super jazzy, sexy music.
the percussion blew me away with their ensemble item.
lionel must have felt so proud.
the j1 item was interesting.
like stomp.
stomp is interesting.
music from every-day objects.
the alumni part was very weird.
i dont mean their playing - they were awesome.
i mean, it was.. guilt-inducing perhaps ;x
when they announced, "alumni presents..."
then there was one whole row of the ex-bandmembers sitting in the audience.
guanyu totally rocked as a page-turner, haha! ;x
no la, she was as pro-ded as always,
julin was like, "wah.. i can never play like guanyu."
bytheway, i missed syafiah alotalotalot.
so yeah,
the band sounded quite power.
khairul could finally play alto/soprano sax,
and it was great.
there's finally a bassonist,
and there's two double-basses - yay.
cant wait for their syf ;x
reached home at a superly late hour.
forgot there was no mrt.
and due to the guilt of not spending time with my muumy this week,
i planned to wake up early to go shopping with her and my sister.
so i did.
then i heard that its only to buy my sister's bag or something,
so i went back to sleep.
the next thing i knew,
it was an hour later,
and my sister was poking my butt,
"wake up, go with us la, go la go la, golagolagolagolagola"
she's so much nicer to talk to when she wants something from me.
and she brought me to thread my eyebrows D;
wasnt as painful as i thought,
but it was quite the weird feeling,
having your eyebrow hairs pulled out with each..
i dont know the word for it.
yeah, super weird.
going to shop around the whole week for my mothers' day present *winks
and also the kingdom hearts thingy,
although i have absolutely zero knowledge on how to play it.
:D
sometimes i ponder,
is it wise to display so much information about yourself online?
like, so many pictures.
all the things you do, where you go and stuff.
but screw it :D
i like thinking that im keeping in touch with my friends.
and while i might not be close to mildly interesting,
its kind of like a creative outlet.
and my nails are irritating me.
the past few days have been busy.
its like two weeks have dragged past,
then suddenly there's a flurry of activity.
bytheway my sister says milo mcflurry is nice.
is it?
so here's what ive been up to.met xiaodi on tuesday.
we went around tamp shopping.
i didnt know we were swarovski crystal people. Aldwyn the Cuteface.
teeheeheee. met up with kael for dinner at cafe cartel.
i think darling must have been really tired,
because she was positively dotty.
i mean, "..or i will cut your balls off!"?
and she was prettier than usual, really :)
anyway there was alot of potato stuffs to eat - yay.
and kael's right,
we were reminded of how he disposes of trash.
and the staff seemed to like cutting bread.
darl then left for her class,
xiaodi and i went to watch superhero movie,
which i mentioned was totally worth my $$.
:D
after that we met up with kael again.
miss her too much see.
hurhurhur.
picked up some drinks at 7-11,
made our way to our favourite playground,
but all the lights werent on,
so it was a tad freaky.
okay it was very freaky.
went to another playground then,
bumped into chiouhuey on the way. they were drinking, in their own words, ribena.
and sprite.
i tell you,
she was really on a look-good day. am i a great photog or what!
see how the moon is right where the two bottles meet?!
only that isnt the moon.
it was really warm.
no wind at all.
we were sitting on the tiny aeroplanes.
xiaodi was showing us how to make the designs on the foam in the coffee cup.
you know, the very pretty one.
simpler than it looks too.
yays to our barrista! :D
so reached home kind of late,
then dragged myself up again at six am.
at this point i'll like to say that its been about five months since i last woke up at 6am.
like, so normal-ish.
like, what i was so accustomed to for two years.
no, six years, including secondary school.
sure, ive started work at 4am,
but that's waking up at 3am,
not 6am.
ahwell.
not without any reason though.
i finally went to the zoo!
must have been about ten years since i last went.
dont worry,
im not about to post up every single picture of every single animal.
was kinda lazy to take pictures of them in fact. this is my zoo guide.
he sells durians.
(doesnt he look like he does?)
anyway he work here before,
so while other pple look at animals,
he points out where the zoo keeper enters the enclosure.
and no,
this isnt a real car.
i mean, its real, but not REAL, y'know? ;x
its one of the few display stuff littered around the zoo.
this was at the australian outback part.
there were statues of animals too.
like ahmeng.
and other random ones. this is one of the reasons why i didnt take pictures of all the animals.
'cos they only show us their butts.
and the rest are all sleeping or hiding, or both. see, this is the hippo's butt.
and it must really get used to all the fishes kissing its ass.
there was a baby hippo too :) staring competition.
LOOK ITS PUMBAA!
the dude from lion king who's kind of overlyfriendly with timon!i think its the first time i saw the skin which the snake shed.
i dont like it.
and there was another huge python.
couldnt take a picture of it 'cos it was really really really huge.
scary. EMU ASS, THIS IS FOR YOU!
:D
it was the australian outback part,
but seeing as i already went to the australian zoo... they called this the grain hut,
and there was an ambience tape playing,
made us feel like we were in africa or something.
there were goats hiding underneath the huts.
it kind of transported me to another world,
where people really lived in huts like these,
in villages like these.i like this enclosure the best.
i dont know why either.
anyway there were deers on top,
and baboons running all around. i didnt want to look at the baboons actually.
see enough of them around.
and i dont like their red butts.
but i like this little guy. you see.
this guy practically has his whole intestines out.
this.
is.
majorly.
disgusting. and my number one reason why i wanted to visit the zoo!
giraffes!!
ive never seen a real giraffe before.
and they were kinda.. short.
i expected them to be talltalltall,
but i was kinda disappointed :((
giraffes look so gentle.
and pretty.
long eyelashes.
the giraffe plushie at the toy store was so cute.
i wonder if male giraffes feel gay. this bat's on a diet.
"you cant tempt me!" this guy has one pretty head.
and why must seletar reservoir always be so pretty?
hrmm.
caught the animal show.
the presenters had to keep stalling 'cos the animals didnt co-operate.
it was pretty cute,
like in harbin.
thought i could munch on snacks along the way,
but i kind of forgot that the animals.... smell.
at one point james went, "i told you to bathe before coming out right"
i liked the places where you can walk with the animals free around you.
and i say animals but i mean butterflies and stuff.
there was one place where they said the snakes roamed wild,
but we didnt see any.
and i saw the pitcher plant for the first time too!
the funny part was it looked like a display,
but there wasnt any glass.
i almost pushed james through,
but i dont think the plant would eat him.
plants have their standards too you know.
and while we were hanging around,
a monkey suddenly plopped down into the display.
D;
speaking of monkeys.
the orang utans swung wild too.
there was this fella who was totally looking at us through his legs,
as he dangled from the wires strung on top.
cute.
some enclosures only had one animal,
which was sad.
in fact i think some were empty.
which is not a happy thought because it meant they escaped.
the polarbear was playing with its float.
the sun bear was sleeping.
(ive also never seen a real bear)
the wolf was sleeping.
the lions were sleeping.
the white tigers were sleeping, save for one insomniac who kept walking in circles.
the hippos were sleeping.
the crocs were sleeping.
and the crocs were huge.
sometimes i wonder how that sheet of glass can stop them.
i think the polar bear with the float was attempting a prison break of sorts actually.
so most of the times i went,
"WAKE UP! I DIDNT PAY 16.50 TO WATCH YOU SLEEEEEP!!"
but then agian not like if they were awake they would be more interesting.
not like they oculd juggle or hulahoop.
anyway the next day was labour day,
dragged lionel to watch superhero movie.
but the fucking cleaners switched on the lights before the movie ended,
prompting everyone to leave.
and there were the cut-off bits after the credits.
i got so mad.
and took it out on lionel.
and he must be a masochist (loves pain) because he still puts up with it.
:(
someday i'll get my hands on the uncensored one and watch with him again.
and darl,
the pillars and escalators outside lido are nice.
you should take a look.
it has "fendi" scrawled all over it.
HAHA.
went to drink slurpee and dyed our tongues blue.
and uh,
yeah.
ooooh,
blogger has this cool feature where you can schedule future-dated posts!
thas when you set a date and time for the post to publish,
and you neednt be on the comp.
WAAAAAAY COOL.
IM GOING TO TRY IT OUT ONE DAY.
by the way,
its terence's birthday :)
caught hotfuzz again.
i love the humour.
it makes me feel intelligent.
although the murders are gory.
i dont really like action movies,
but hotfuzz is action + comedy + gore.
i dont even mind the lack of eyecandy!
briton accents are so cute.
:D
my mummy was at home alone today.
which makes me feel guilty.
nonono,
its all part of an elaborate plan for mothers' day.
hurhurhurhur.
such selfdenial.
SUPERHERO MOVIE WAS TOTALLY WORTH MY $$!
annnnnddddd it stars drake bell :D
someday i'll get my hands on the uncensored version.
